It is the common basic wish of the patients who have gained and lost excessive weight that their arms don’t sag. In addition, a sagging arm could be observed in patients who are not physically active. 

The appearance of the so-called “bat wings” on the arms, and rubbing under the armpit are among the primary complaints.

Surgical procedure

The sagging skin from the elbow to the armpit is marked as an ellipse and forms together with the subcutaneous fatty tissue, a smooth arm contour. The marking is done while standing with the arm at a 90 degree right angle to the body. If the patient’s arm is too slack (stage 3), “liposuction” could be first carried out. After that the sagging piece of skin could be surgically removed and the arm straightened. Operation is usually completed in 1-2 hours.
