Male Breasts

Male Breasts (Gynecomastia)

The growth of breast tissue is a major affliction for many men. The chest area below the areola develops into a kind of breast, which may reach the size of a female breast. The reason for this is the increased growth of Mammary gland and fat deposits in the male breast.

A male breast reduction surgery can correct this issue. But the surgical removal of a man’s breast requires a diagnosed gynecomastia.

It is important to pay attention to the type of gynecomastia. Also, before surgery, weight loss should be tried. If the enlarged breast is still present even after some weight loss, surgical removal may be considered.

In addition, there are some criterias for a male breast correction such as any underlying serious illnesses that may prevent general anesthesia. In such cases, it must be checked individually whether the intervention can be performed with local anesthesia.
